Antonov An-10 “Ukraina” Early Prototype — No Registration — NATO Cat — 1:200 Scale Model
Add an important piece of Antonov aviation history to your collection with this 1:200 scale model of the Antonov An-10 “Ukraina” in its early test and presentation configuration.
This version represents the beginning of the An-10 programme, when the first experimental aircraft had already been built and was being used for flight testing and official demonstrations but had not yet received the final appearance of a production passenger aircraft.
The model carries the name “Ukraina” but has no registration markings displayed on the fuselage. Its clean early appearance highlights the experimental character of the aircraft and makes it especially interesting for collectors of prototypes, test aircraft and Antonov Design Bureau history.
Produced in Ukraine by KUM, the model is made of high-quality cast plastic. Its markings and decorative elements are applied using pad-printing technology. The model is supplied fully assembled and ready for display.
HISTORY OF THE AIRCRAFT
The Antonov An-10 “Ukraina” was the first experimental prototype of a new four-engine turboprop passenger aircraft developed under the direction of Oleg Antonov.
The first experimental An-10 was built in Kyiv and received the name “Ukraina”. It made its maiden flight on 7 March 1957, taking off from the airfield of the Kyiv Aviation Plant in Sviatoshyn and landing at the military airfield in Boryspil. The flight-test crew was led by test pilot Yakov Vernikov.
During factory and state testing, the An-10’s design was refined. Modifications were made to the wing and tail assembly to improve the aircraft’s stability and handling characteristics.
In July 1958, the Antonov An-10 was presented at the Brussels World’s Fair, where it received a diploma and a Grand Gold Medal. After the flight-test programme was completed, the aircraft type was approved for passenger service, and regular flights began in 1959.
The Antonov An-10 received the NATO reporting name “Cat”. This designation was used by NATO to identify the aircraft type and was not an official Soviet name for the aircraft.
